Abstract: Effects of low doses of toxicants have been studied in the field of hormesis, the cell biology of the stress response (tolerance and step-down studies) and therapeutical application of homeopathy and isopathy. Over the past several years however. very few scientists have suggested a common base for these, apparently unrelated, fields of research. A common feature is that they are concerned with the induction of a benefi- cial effect by a low dose of a toxicant es and the specificity of toxicants. can be critically evaluated within the scientific concepts discussed.
