Abstract: Musicians and dancers in the performing arts place abnormal stresses on their musculoskeletal systems, resulting in overuse injuries. The purpose of this paper is to address the factors contributing to musculoskeletal injuries sustained by musicians. Recommendations for evaluative procedures, treatment, and education in dealing with the needs of this population are discussed.
