Abstract: Presents a recently developed model of an art center for people with disabilities that offers opportunities for enriching the later years of many persons with developmental disabilities. Three vignettes of older adults with developmental disabilities are presented as examples of benefits from participating in creative experiences in the studio setting. The vignettes involve 2 women (aged 66 and 77 yrs) who paint and a man (aged 69 yrs) who works on the printmaking press. For many older persons with developmental disabilities, a creative art program is the program of choice, since they are unable to "work" productively in a work setting because of severe limitations.
