The state of receptive music therapy. TITLE, ORIGINAL: Zur Situation der rezeptiven Musiktherapie. |
Journal/Book: Musiktherapeutische Umschau. 1993; XIV: 193-206.
Abstract: Receptive music therapy has lost ground in the German-speaking world over the last few decades. Possible reasons are, on one hand, developments in culture and society, particularly the spread of technological media, and on the other hand, specific ideas about music and therapy. In contrast, there is a great diversity of research on receptive music therapy that is ignored in the German-speaking areas. One of the new forms of receptive music therapy takes a novel approach to background music and uses it in the therapy context; another emphasizes the ritualization of concentrated listening to music.
