Reduction of leukopenia in mice by "VISCUM ALBUM" administration during radiation and chemotherapy

Abstract: "Viscum album" extract, iscador, was found to reduce the leukocytopeniaproduced by radiation and cyclophosphamide treatment in animals. Weightloss due to radiation was considerably reduced by "Viscum album" extractwhereas weight loss due to cyclophosphamide was not altered. Hemoglobinlevels also were not affected by "Viscum album" extract administration.The results indicated that treatment with "Viscum album" extract reduceslymphocytopenia and hence could be used along with chemotherapy andradiation therapy.
