Abstract: Twenty-one women with unexplained infertility or sterility caused by hormonal disorders were treated with homeopathic single remedies after classical repertorisation. They were matched with 21 women who were treated with hormones for the same type of sterility during the same period of time. Both groups of patients matched in all criteria that were known to influence pregnancy prognosis by previous studies (age, duration of childnessless, type of sterility, uterine, tubal, andrological factor, body mass index, type of menstrual disorder). Six pregnancies occurred in each group (28.5%). In the group treated with homeopathic drugs, all patients delivered a baby, while in the group treated with hormones only two patients gave birth and four had an abortion. In 50% of ihe women treaded with homeopathy the hormonal disorders could be eliminated and in 19% of them various functional disorders could be improved. Transient side-effects were noted in 10% of those patients. In the group of patients treaded with hormones, however, no amelioration could be achieved, but the general condition of 29% of them even deteriorated. Cost-benefit analysis for pregnancies achieved showed that the expense for drugs was at least ten times less in the group treated with homeopathy, the amount of time spent on each patient being the same in both groups.
