Mikrobiologische Therapie bei Störungen der Darmflora |
Abstract: Pharmaceutical preparations containing microbes as active principle are used for a number of diseases which are based on disturbances of the intestinal microflora. Microorganisms serve to re-establish a low-risk physiological microflora in the gut. Therapeutic results of microbiological therapy in the treatment of diarrhoea, obstipation and inflammatory bowel diseases are presented.25 of 29 patients with medically refractory antibiotic-associated diarrhoea were cured by a bacteriotherapy within a short time.In patients with chronic obstipation the number of bowel movements per week was increased significantly by the administration of viable E. coli bacteria (strain Nissle 1917).A two-phase-therapy with preceding decontamination of the gut and subsequent recolonization by viable physiological bacteria, mainly E. coli, was shown to be a very promising new treatment concept for inflammatory bowel diseases.Furthermore it was demonstrated that high risk infants can take advantage from an infection prophylaxis with living apathogenic E. coli bacteria.
