Mariendistel verringert Fibroseaktivität

Journal/Book: Therapiewoche. 1993; 43, 39: 2002-2006.

Abstract: In a drug surveillance study covering 108 patients with alcohol-toxic hepatopathies and infammatory, activity the influence of the fibrosis activity marker procollagen-III-peptide (P-III-P) has been tested under an average five-week therapy with a Mary's thistle extract (200 - 400 mg/day). P-III-P dropped from initially 1.37 ?f 1.25 to 1.04 ? 0.85 E/ml. (in the pre/post comparison during the prodromal sign test always significantly with p < 0.001). The decrease showed a significant rank correlation to the drop in the inflammation parameters ASTA (p 0.016) and AGAT (p 0.02). In that study, 85% of the patients had to be rated responders. More than 98% of the physicians and patients judged the tolerance to be "very good" and "good".
