Abstract: The wellknown efficacy of vitex agnus castus in the therapy of luteal Phase defects is due to a prolactin lowering effect as shown in the first randomized Placebo controlled double blind study. Besides anormalization of cycle disturbance and ovar steroid hormone synthesis pregnancies in women with infertility caused by latent hyperprolactinaemia occured in a high rate as shown in an open study.
