Abstract: Wholesome nutrition is a primarily lactovegetarian diet in which the consumption of less processed foods is prefered. Delicious meals are prepared from foods valuable to health. Mainly whole grain products, vegetables and fruits, potatoes, legumes as well as milk and dairy products are consumed. In addition, a wholesome diet may also contain moderate amounts of meat, fish and eggs. About half the amount of food eaten is unheated. Fresh foods are prepared with little tat in a nutrient-preserving way. Foods containing additives are avoided. In addition to the health aspects of a diet, the ecological and social benefits of the nutrition system are taken into consideration. This also implies that, where possible, only organically grown produce, in season and regionally cultivated, should be consumed. Furthermore, foods with either no or ecologically tolerable packaging are prefered and products and technologies which do not harm the environment are employed. Apart from that, agricultural products which are produced, processed and marketed under socially beneficial conditions are given preference (e. g. fair trade with developing countries).Wholesome nutrition aims to promote a high quality of life (especially health), protection of the environment and social justice worldwide.
