Behandlung der Gonarthrose mit Zeel P Injektionslösung - Ergebnisse einer Anwendungsbeobachtung

Abstract: The present drug monitoring has been performed with the purpose of gaining new knowledge with regard to the therapeutical application in practice of the antiarthritic agent Zeel P Injection Solution. No other patients have been included in the study than those suffering from an arthrosis of the knee-joint. Zeel P was injected by the intra-articular route exclusively. The monitoring period covered four months (from September until December '92). A number of 190 orthopedics participated in the drug monitoring. They treated a total of 1845 patients with Zeel P, and they recorded the results obtained on standardized form sheets (among other things, anamnestic data, adjuvant medications, additional non-drug therapies, scope of treatment, assessment of therapy, and tolerance). The study was conceived as a follow-up monitoring; that means that, within the scope oft a series of injections, the physicians assessed the stiffness of the knee-joint and the intensity of pain found during each medical attendance.Here is the overall picture resulting from the monitoring:1. On an average, every patient was given an intra-articular injection of one ampoule of Zeel P twice a week, over a period of 4-5 weeks.2. The efficacy of Zeel P Injection Solution is statistically evident. A regression of the symptoms is statistically demonstrable after no more than two injections. In the course of the treatment, the initial pain, the pain following exercise, and the continuous pain as well as the stiffness in the joint lessened significantly in a linear manner. The effect covers the entire scale of intensity (without pain, slight, medium and violent pain).3. At the end of the treatment, 93.1% of the patients judged the therapy favorably, i.e. as ranging between satisfactory and very good.4. The tolerance of Zeel P is a good one. The quota of side effects, related to the total number of injections given, amounts to 0.45 %. Side effects occurring were local inflammatory signs exclusively, all of which were of a reversible nature.
