Levels of Interaction in Improvisation

Abstract: Foulkes outlined four levels of interaction in groups, namely objective reality, transference, object/part object relations and collective unconscious. In my paper I will attempt to analyse musical interplay using a similar model. I will also attempt to look at the therapeutic implications of this type of analysid. The paper will be based on object relations theory and my own clinical experience with adults. It will not be a scientific study or the result of systematic research. This paper will be published by the BSMT later in l992, price on application.
