Abstract: Affirms the thesis that the patient-therapist relationship is the most important factor in the progress of the treatment. In music therapy, a psychotherapeutic dimension is complemented by an artistic musical dimension that can only be understood with reference, first, to its cultural roots and, second, to the importance of artistic-holistic perception as a concept in developmental psychology. Elements of the music therapy relationship that seem to be especially effective with a given patient can be emphasized. (author)
