Emotional Growth Through Music |
Abstract: In this paper, emotional and cognitive aspects of music are analysed, describing how they promote emotional growth and improve learning abilities in children. The elicitation of emotions and associations to music as a non-verbal means of communication is related to the primary process (fantasy), while its structure and inner logic provide the order and the limits that may lead to the secondary process (reality oriented). Processes based in the inner structure and aesthetic value of music are analyzed through examples of individual and group therapy. This paper will be published by the BSMT later in l992, price on application.
