Collaboration with one's client

Abstract: Reviews the literature regarding a patient-therapist collaborative approach in art therapy. Collaboration is addressed in the psychodynamic perspective through discussion of the therapeutic alliance. References to roles, boundaries, and distance underscore many of the objections to collaboration in treatment. Understanding of these concepts will enable art therapists to work more effectively as collaborators in treatment.
