Music Therapy with Families

Abstract: In this paper I will describe my work with families in a psychiatric unit for children in Cambridge. I will focus both on work with groups of mothers and young children and on work with individual families. This is followed by a description of the general principals regarding this work as well as several individual group case studies. My work as a music therapist will then be related to other treatment offered to these families on the psychiatric unit. Finally, I will examine why music therapy is of particular value to this client group. This paper will be published by the BSMT late l992, price on application.
