Abstract: Qualitative research appears to be a promising approach in music therapy that depends on subjectivity, intuition, and holism. The methodological principle of triangulation of perspective (among patient, therapist, five independent observers, and two composers) is employed to examine an interactive music-therapy treatment. The treatment is based on the soundbox function, through which the perceptive capacities of all participants for effective and relationship-oriented intervention during the therapeutic work are described. The resulting sound notations and descriptive verbal texts may be used to induce qualities and motivation that, in a second stage, are brought together with the clinical data of the case. (author)
