How to Help a Client to Become the Composer of his own Expression

Abstract: The main aspect of my paper will be: which applicable musical aspects can be put into a framework for the music therapist so that he will be able to guide a client throughout his process of musical formgiving. At our school we educate our students to become creative therapists in music. This implies that later in their practice they will guide their clients through the process of developing their own ability in musical formgiving. Working as a teacher in methodology of music therapy it is important for me to give the students a methodological base to stand on, which is more than intuitive working. Therefore I try to give them a clear ideas about: - the way processes of form-giving can develop - a framework, in which the application musical aspects to guide these processes are given. In my paper I will give you a view on my development inc reating such a methodological framework. This paper will be published by the BSMT later in l992, price on application.
