Animal Experiments can be Avoided

Abstract: Animal experiments are made obligatory by law. The extent to which they are carried through can, however, be drastically decreased, as experiences with in vitro methods have shown. Many tests of medicaments and cosmetic products can be carried through with chicken eggs or cell cultures with the same or even higher reliability. The same can be said of the Draize-test, which the cosmetics industry uses a great deal - a test that is carried through an the rabbits eye. Several French studies show that this test can be substituted by other tests involving human corneal corpuscles.
