Pathophysiologie von Durchfallerkrankungen und sinnvolle therapeutische Maßnahmen

Abstract: Various disturbances of the gastrointestinal tract may be the cause of diarrhoea as a symptom. For instance, bacterial and viral infections, metabolic disturbances, earlier treatments with antibiotics, stress situations as well as chronic inflammations of the intestine have to be taken into consideration. Therefore, the cause should be clarified by a differential diagnosis prior to a specific therapy. The reason is that the different antidiarrhoeals act on various points of the pathophysiological process. Available are therapeutic agents which have proved their efficacy such as sugar-electrolyte solutions, yeast preparations, motility modulators and antibiotics.
