Zur Problematik der Vollwerternährung- Ist sie vernünftig? Kann sie auch schaden? -

Abstract: Every preventive and therapeutic dietetics has to take into consideration two basic principles:1 . We have to feed the body with all those substances it needs to satisfy its energy requirements and to renew its structures which are constantly changing. Therefore we must chose and treat the food in such a way, that a sufficient supply with these basic substances is guarantied. That means, of high nutritive value but not necessarily always of highest nutritive value and natural nutrition, because: 2. We only must feed the body with such a quantity it can properly process. We only must offer him such nutrition it can easily digest, metabolize in the intermediate metabolism without bulkage and finally totally discharge via the kidney, lung, skin and intestine. To meet both requirements is difficult in the case of healthy people but it is more difficult in the case of people suffering from impaired digestion, especially older people. Natural food, - as e.g. raw cereals, raw leaves, raw roots, nuts - is to difficult to digest for many people and therefore it is unwholesome. Those things which remain undigested are decomposed in the intestine by bacteria. By fermentation and putrefaction, toxic and mutagenic substances are formed which are ingested by the intestinal mucosa, our root system together with the food into the body (benzene derivatives, fusel alcohols).Intoxication from the intestine into the body is the result. This "intestinal autointoxication" first of all damages the intestinal mucosa itself, then the immunological system which is situated in the mucosa and behind the mucosa. The advantages of a natural nutrition do no longer exist. Often the deletrious consequences appear - besides early signs of incompatibility - after years and decades: illnesses of the intestinal tract, chronic catarrh and infection, development of arterial vascular sclerosis, inflammatory and degenerative illnesses of the locomotor system and even neoplasias. Damages are more often the result than an advantage which has always been stated but has not been proven so far. Healthy people become ill and ill people do not become healthy.Only such a form of nutrition can be natural which is in accordance with the nature of the individual, with the nature of the ill person. The physician who is experienced in dietetics has to evaluate together with the patient what has to be a part of the therapeutic considerations and the preventive recommendations: age, constitutional and typological characteristics, nutrition history, functional condition of the intestinal tract, functional condition of the intermediary metabolisms, individual incompatibilities, nutritional allergies and much more. A form of nutrition which orients itself only according to the high nutritious value and to the amount of nutritive substances in the food, but which overlooks or neglects the special characteristics of the patient, his need, such a form of nutrition can not be called reasonable from the scientific point of view or the point of view of the physician. Man is the measure of all dietetics - not the food.
