Hyphomycetes: An Allergen an the Increase |
Journal/Book: Natur- und Ganzheitsmedizin Wissenschaft und Praxis. 1992; 5/11: 318-323.
Abstract: A high number of allergies is caused by hyphomycetes. Estimations differ between ten and thirty percent. Great numbers of spores of the hyphomycetes occur in house dust (penicillium, aspergilli), in food products, and also in medicaments, cosmetic products, washing powders and detergents, and in clothes. Within buildings the highest concentration can be found during the heating period - if the rooms aren't aired well enough - and in rooms with airconditioning. In food, detergent, and pharmaceutical industries technical enzymes are being used more often, including metabolic products of hyphomycetes, which have high allergenic potential. Here obligatory declaration needs to be introduced.
