Abstract: A temporal sequence model was examined with analytical factors as to whether there is a connection between meteorological parameters and the emergency admission rate of patients suffering from grand mal epileptic seizures. For this, meteorological data were recorded continually over 501 days; in this period of time 151 patients were admitted on an emergency basis because of epileptical seizures. As in other studies before, no connection could be found between the absolute meteorological values and the admission rate. When, however, the 24-hour difference was evaluated, it showed that for women the admission rate is modulated through climate changes. Here an increase of the air humidity (» weather deterioration(() leads to a lower admission rate. For men there was an inverse connection, even though less pronounced. It is still a matter of speculatation which physiological processes cause these effects.
