Abstract: Already in the early stage of infancy drinking insufficiency and vomition of milk may occur. From the 2nd to 3rd week of age an the symptomatology of the hypertrophic pylorus stenosis commences with recidivous, vomiting in a jet", looking senile and peristaltic waves visible above the upper abdomen. Attacks of crying with the legs attracted are typical findings with the so-called trimenoncolics. The intolerances of cow milk proteins often made responsible for this are seldom. Mostly, functional disorders of the alimentary canal as reaction to e. g. strained relations in the family are the cause. During infancy and pre-school age the acute and chronic constipation are often the reason for colic-like stomach-ache. Alimentary reasons (hyperalimentation, inappropriate food, changes in the diet) and infections with intestinal-pathogenic viruses and bacteria are found with the acute gastroenteritis. The clinical symptomatology shows a very great variablity from abortive course up to toxicosis. From the second year of age an vomition due to acetonaemia may occur in children with the respective predisposition.
