Ginkgo-biloba-Spezialextrakt bei Patienten mit hirnorganischem Psychosyndrom Prüfung der Wirksamkeit mit neurophysiologischen und psychometrischen Methoden

Abstract: Prof. Dr. med. B. Hofferberth Chefarzt der Abteilung für Neurologie und Neurophysiologie Krankenhaus Lindenbrunn Coppenbrügge Zusammenfassung 50 stationäre Patienten mit hirnorganischem Psychosyndrom einer neurologischen Fachabteilung im Alter von 57 bis 76 Jahren nahmen an einer plazebokontrollierten Doppelblindstudie zur Prüfung der Wirksamkeit des Ginkgo-biloba-Spezialextraktes LI 1370 teil. Nach einer Auswaschphase von 14 Tagen erfolgte die sechswöchige Therapie mit der Einnahme von 3 x 1 Filmtablette entsprechend der Tagesdosis von 150 mg des Verum. Die therapeutische Wirksamkeit wurde mit zwei psychometrischen Tests (Wiener Determinationsgerät und Zahlenverbindungstest) und drei neurophysiologischen Meßmethoden (Sakkaden-Test EEG-Analyse und Messung evozierter Potentiale) geprüft. Bei allen fünf Zielkriterien ergab sich im Gruppenvergleich zwischen Verum und Plazebo eine statistisch hochsignifikante (p < 0 001) Überlegenheit des Verum die sich bereits nach dreiwöchiger Therapie deutlicher noch nach sechs Wochen zeigte. Gleichzeitig damit besserte sich auch die Symptomatik. Aus den Ergebnissen wird deutlich daß die Therapie mit dem Ginkgo-biloba-Spezialextrakt LI 1370 bei Patienten mit hirnorganischem Psychosyndrom zu einer Steigerung der Hirnleistung beiträgt. Ginkgo Biloba Special Extract Treatment in Patients with Cerebro-organic Syndrome. Study on the Efficacy with Neurophysiological and Psychometrical Methods: 50 inpatients aged 57 to 76 years with cerebro-organic syndrome from a neurological department participated in a placebo-controlled double-blind trial to study the efficacy of the Ginkgo biloba special extract LI 1370. After a washout phase of 14 days 6 weeks of therapy with the intake of 3 x 1 coated tablets followed according to a daily dosage of 150 mg of verum treatment. The therapeutic efficacy was tested with 2 psychometrical tests (Vienna Determination Test and Figure Connection Test) and 3 neurophysiological methods of measurement (saccadic eye movements EEG analysis and measurement of the evoked potentials). For all 5 target criteria a statisticallly highly significant superiority of active treatment (p < 0 001) was shown in comparison to the placebo group which appeared only after 3 weeks of therapy and became more obvious after 6 weeks. At the same time the clinical symptoms improved. The results show that therapy with the Ginkgo biloba special extract LI 1370 in patients with cerebro-organic syndrome contributes to an increased cerebral capacity. ab
