Abstract: Institut für Kurmedizinische Forschung Bad Wildungen Bad Wildungen In 13 healthy male subjects blood samples were taken in 4 hour intervals during a 24 hour period under constant resting conditions. The following parameters were determined: number of leucocytes granulocytes total-lyphocytes B(OKB7)- and T-lymphocytes (OKT3) helper (OKT4)- and supressor (OKT8)-cells as well as immunoglobulins. The number of circulating leucocytes exhibited a clear circadian rhythm with maximum values in the night. The number of granulocytes and lymphocytes showed inverse circadian variations wth a relative lymphocytosis during daytime and granulocytosis during the night. The number of B-cells and total T-cells as well as T-helper-cells showed maximum values during nighttime however the number of T-suppressor-cells exhibited a nightly minimum. Therefore the helper-suppressor-ratio reached maximum values during nighttime. Immunoglobulin-concentrations showed maximum values during forenoon. These results are interpreted as alternating proliferation and metabolic activity of immunologic active cells.
