Musicoterapia: uma alternativa para psicoticos. / Music therapy: An alternative for psychosis treatment

Abstract: Discusses the use of music therapy in the treatment of patients with psychosis. The case history of a 7-yr-old child with premature infantile autism and obsessive-compulsive behaviors who was treated using music therapy is presented. The hypothesis that music, which is a nonreferential language, may permit a revival of archaic or buried phases of personality development is presented. The role of music therapy in facilitating communication between patient and therapist is also discussed. (English abstract)
