Abstract: Presents a psychoanalytic interpretation of Beethoven's late piano sonatas, particularly Opus 110, drawing analogies between this work and the themes and patterns of myth and alchemy. Parallels between the circular structure of Opus 110 and the mythical figure of the snake that swallows its tail are described, with emphasis on their common symbolic function of self-regeneration. It is noted that both myth and music serve as therapeutic instruments for the formulation and resolution of existential problems. (English abstract)
