Abstract: Presents a case example of music therapy with an adolescent boy with severe learning disabilities and antisocial behavior. The therapy spanned 3 yrs, starting when the S was 12 yrs old and ending when he was 15 yrs old. The S's transition from using music as a self-object to defend himself against psychotic fears to acknowledging music as a cultural object is described. This process of enculturation is analyzed in relation to the development of the transference relationship. (English abstract)
