Journal/Book: Arts in Psychotherapy. 1991; 18: 231-239.
Abstract: Offers examples of how the author has incorporated sandplay, a form of creative arts therapy, into her work with families. The combination of sandplay and family therapy can provide a containment for families where boundaries are a problem, can reveal family alliances, and can appeal to both the children in the family and to the "inner child" of each parent. Portions of 2 cases are presented. The 1st is that of an 8-yr-old boy who lived in a joint custody arrangements with his parents and transferred his residence weekly. The 2nd involves a family of 3 daughters and their natural parents who, until a year before this contact, had lived with 2 children from the father's 1st marriage.
Note: integration of creative sandplay therapy in family therapy; 4 12 yr olds & their family members
