Abstract: When we engage in the process of research with individuals we are involved in helping them articulate themselves. This articulation may take various forms. Within our culture we have the activity of science which has rigourous forms of representation and relies upon constancy, reliability and predictability. However, we also have complementary forms of individual expression within our culture which are creative and aesthetic. It is creative forms which may help to articulate that which is new and which cannot be readily realised in words. How we document the progress of those who come into our care, or those with whom we choose to journey, may be better expressed in pictures, music and a story to be told."Art does not reproduce the visible, rather it makes visible. Formerly we used to represent things visible on earth, things we either liked to look at or would have liked to see. Today we reveal that reality that is behind all living things, thus expressing the belief that the visible world is merely an isolated case in relation to the universal, and there are many more latent realities" Paul Klee
