Abstract: In a double blind therapy study for the efficacy of the so-called haematogenous oxidation therapy (HOT) with patients suffering from arterial occlusion in the stage II (claudicatio intermittens) 9 patients - and that in a randomized sequence -are treated according to the classical procedure (6 radiation treatments within 3 weeks) and 9 other patients are apparently treated. The null hypothesis is formulated for the maximum walking distance. The walking distances do not change in the two groups. Both groups show a uniform improvement as to the viscosity of the plasma; the HOT group shows a uniform decrease of the plasmatic fibrinogen level. Additionally investigated enzyme concentrations in the erythrocytes for the sugar metabolism do not show any change. The results of the study are in so far limited as patients from an angiological gymnastic group for training the vessels were studied. Research with a HOT-related method by Pöhlmann had revealed that a combination of uv-therapy and sports therapy might be unfavourable. Thus, the reported results may only limitedly apply to other collectives of patients.
