Abstract: Existing experimental data lead us to believe that fish-oil, garlic, and antioxi-dants (vitamin E) show inhibitory effects an the metabolism of the phospholi-pids, the formation of LDL, and platelet aggregation. At the same time an improvement of blood rheology and an increase of the antioxidants' state against free radicals with endothelium protection can be noticed. These are synergistic effects. The present publications an the decrease of the mortality of coronary heart diseases through a combination of fish-oil and garlic show the possibility of realising a concept of preventing or delaying arteriosclerosis which can be carried through an a big scale and without any side-effects. Here, nevertheless, a re-organisation of risky living and eating habits are of importance.
