Die Mayr-Kur

Journal/Book: Ärztezeitschrift für Naturheilverfahren. 1991; 32/7: 559-561.

Abstract: The Mayr cure belongs to the methods of remedial fasting. Its peculiarity is the administration of the best tolerated full food-stuff milk which causes the least irritation and which is given in combination with the cure roll as chewing transmitter. Initially, the phase during which food reduced in calories is offered is generally preceded by a phase of tea-fasting for several days. The objective is to achieve a removal of residues as well as a detoxication of the whole organism through cleansing (purgation), care and training (for regular intestinal activity) of the intestinal system. Especially chronic diseases can considerably be improved or healed with this procedure. A reduction in weight usually occurs as an often desired side-effect. The period of time for the cure is 3 to 4 weeks. A regularly performed special treatment of the abdomen during the cure supports the therapeutic effect. The major indications are diseases of the digestive tract (stomach, intestines), rheumatic diseases and other chronic diseases as well as also the tumour after-care since the restoration of healthy conditions, especially of the small gut, results in a stimulation of the defense (immune) system. Contra-indications are acute diseases.
