The Health Resort in the Last Decade of the Twentieth Century

Abstract: Today the health resort is formed by different trends of development. It has been medicalized, clinicalized, and specialized; psychological concepts, socialmedical concepts, and activity concepts have been included. This development cannot be considered positive in all fields. The clinification, for example, rose passive expectations with the patient. Given these trends and looking into the future, health resort medicine has to develop an extended notion of health. Health is a positive potential which everybody possesses and which can be further developed. Through different therapeutical structures the health resort stay has to work an the somatical, the psychological, and the social levels in a preventive, a curative, and a rehabilitative manner. It has to be understood as holistic medicine.
