Interdisziplinäre Aspekte der Phytotherapie und ihre derzeitige Bedeutung für die Schulmedizin in Europa*

Abstract: In order to avoid controversial discussions concerning the medical rank of the phytotherapy the aspects of this "special mode of therapy" must be treated more an the interdisciplinary level. This should in particular apply to the attention paid to the phytotherapy in the European legislation. Due to numerous clinical and/or experimental studies as to the evidence of the efficacy of plant drugs the phytotherapy is more and more getting a scientific profile. For the future the phytotherapy will encounter a "university revaluation" through the 7th decree an the amendment of the rules for approbation of physicians. From 1993 an phytotherapy will also be included in the examinations of the 2nd part of the medical examination. The attitude of the physicians in the Federal Republic of Germany as to the prescription of phytopharmaceuticals is very much different from that of physicians in the other countries of the European Community. The drug monographies of the Commission E (interdisciplinary expert commission at the Federal Health Office in Berlin) should be accepted by the EC.
