Differential Diagnostics of Osteoporosis

Abstract: Back pains, deformation of the back, and fractures are considered typical clinical features of osteoporosis. But all of these symptoms can also occur with other diseases - as is shown with example cases. Laboratory results, too, allow a number of possible interpretations. All results have to be balanced against each other; a careful differential diagnosis is necessary. More recent studies have tried to determine the profile of an osteoporosis-risk-person. In the main, the patients are referred to the specialized clinic an the grounds of very vague diagnoses which are often based an pure suspicions even though the doctor has known the patient for years and thus he should be motivated to differentiate better. A questionnaire could here be helpful.
