Models in Psychosomatics |
Journal/Book: Natur- und Ganzheitsmedizin Wissenschaft und Praxis. 1991; 4/3: 81-87.
Abstract: There are different psychosomatic models to explain the interactions between psychological and physical processes. These models have gradually developed, particularly during this century. The most important schools are psychoanalysis and behaviourism.Part I of the present study deals with the development of the classical psychoanalytical models into psychosomatics. Starting with S. Freud and his model of conversion, the theories of de- and resomatisation (Schur), the model of psychodynamic conflicts (Alexander), the anthropological model (von Weizsäcker), and the theory of two-phase repression by Mitscherlich are depictured cursorily, Part II explains psychosomatically based models of behavioural theories as well as newer approaches in psychosomatics.
