Pollenallergie - Versuch einer Therapie während der Saison

Abstract: In general, hay fever or pollinosis is not treated during an attack i.e. during the season. The author has developed a new acupuncture therapy program which is carried out during severe attack. The procedure is: 1. Each of the points LI 4, St 36, LI 19, B 1, Gb 3 and PdM. are stimulated with He-Ne-Laser ($mW) for 30 seconds. 2. All points are subsequently needled with steel needles to a maximum depth. The needles are left in situ for 20 minutes. 3. Specially developed permanent steel nedles are then inserted and secured with adhesive tape. The patients are instructed on the care of the nnedles. 26 Patients (19 children aged 7-12 years and 7 adults aged 23-3d1 years) participated in the study. All were suffering from severe allergic reactions to pollen at the time. The results after 1-3 treatments: 15 children remained symptom free for the whole season. 5 adults were symptom free the remaining 2 showed only slight improvement. Five of the original 26 subjects have been under observation for four years. Three have received single treatments twice yearly the other two required only one treatment per year to remain symptom free. These results support our view that the combination of various acupuncture methods in therapy increas the efficacy, although the number of patients treated to date doues not permit significant results (although the results with the children were significant).
