Basic points for the artificial CO2-bathing and absorption of 14CO2 in rabbits

Medical School Yamada Misasa Japan Tablet form of the CO2-bath preparation made from sodium bicarbonate sodium carbonate and succinic acid produces fine CO2 bubbles so that 80 % of water solubility at 40°C can be obtained. A CO2-bath preparation 50 g tablet can produce 110 ppm (mg CO2/liter water) maximum concentration in a bath of 150 liter at 40°C maintaining the level of more than 60 ppm for 2 hours. Absorption of 14CO2 were studied in rabbits after topical application of a CO2-bath preparation in a bath of 150 liter at 40°C. 20 minutes after topical application the blood concentration of 14CO2 reached 22 0 ng/g in blood and 14CO2 cummulative excretion in expired gas reached 9 39 µg. ___MH
