Abstract: Emotional reactivity of patients with endogenous depression and healthy test subjects towards classic and rock music was compared. According to the questionnaire data and EEG recording, it was established that in depressed patients, analysis and estimation of the emotionally significant information differ from those in healthy persons. In contrast to normals, the classic music exerts an activation effect on the patients whereas rock music evokes negative emotions. Analysis of the time-course of changes in the EEG points to alterations in the system of nonspecific activation in depressions.
