Music therapy: Sounding your myth |
Journal/Book: Music Therapy. 1990; 9: 35-43.
Abstract: Explored how the concepts of myth and ritual can become viable, flexible forms of change in therapy. Myth, as a living concept, is a strong and active component of any music therapy session. Ritual is the means through which a client's myth can be safely sounded, recognized, and understood. The processes of myth and ritual are described and examined in a case description of a 4-yr-old communication-disordered male. The themes particular to this child are heard in his rituals, and his personal myth is understood through these rituals.
