Abstract: Music therapy is used to treat coma patients in intensive care. The question is raised about where is the self of the patient when they are seemingly uncommunicative and unconscious. Intensive care units are encouraged to attend to the artificial rhythm of their machines, and to the way in which they interact with patients.
