The development of a research strategy for music therapists in a hospital setting therapists |
Journal/Book: Arts in Psychotherapy. 1990; 17: 231-237.
Abstract: A three year plan for music therapy research is described. The basic elements are those of clinical research, physiological research and theoretical development. None of the three elements are separable in practice as one informs the other. Research is built in stages. The most important consideration is not to impose research designs upon the music therapists, rather to encourage them to evolve their own research agenda, learn the considerations necessary for research and then plan the necessary studies.
