Abstract: With 41 patients suffering from peripheral arterial occlusive disease (AOD) and from coronary heart disease (CHD) hypervolaemic haemodilution with 250 ml of a 10% isethionic starch was carried through. With peripheral AOD with additional CHD, the indication for haemodilution can be differentially expanded, if the function of the left ventricle is judged beforehand, the volume is restricted, PCV-sedimentation values do not substantially fall short of 40%, and if patients with a history of anterior-wall infarction are excluded from haemodilution.
