Abstract: Fever is a physiological and holistic process. It activates a complex network of immune responsivenss and can also be successfully used as therapeutical principle in case of malignant and chronic diseases. Besides the increases of the temperature which serves as intensifying mechanism in the rapid activation of immunological reactions extensive immuno-reactions as true immuno-cascade are caused by the central fever mediator, the interleukin-1 (previously endogenous pyrogen). In several pilot studies performed at the Aesculapius Clinic at Bad Rappenau the impressive immuno-activations by means of the active fever therapy have been demonstrated for the first time in medicine.
