The patient with a disease of the respiratory tract which is not diagnosed |
Journal/Book: Natur- und Ganzheitsmedizin Wissenschaft und Praxis. 1990; 3/7: 214-216.
Abstract: The number of diseases of the respiratory tract which are not recognized in the doctor's practice is very high. It is estimated at 20 to almost 30 percent. Too often the symptoms are considered harmless or interpreted incorrectly by doctor and patient. With asthmatic children, doctors and parents often show a psychological awe of clearly naming the diagnosis. But even a "simple" cough without difficult breathing and expectoration can be the expression of asthma or of beginning chronical bronchitis - this fact is often overlooked. Thus diseases of the respiratory tract often only treated when they have become obstructive and chronic. That is too late, however, as the best therapeutical chances of an early intervention are thus being lost.
