Abstract: Organisms are energetically open. They are able to change energy and matter with their surroundings. Only biorhythms can stabilize those energetic conditions. Biorhythms are not only working intracellularly but also in the extracellular space. The latter is interlaced by the groundsubstance (matrix) which mainly consists of sugarbiopolymers. These matrix components do have a great importance maintaining the immune surveillance as well as in supplying and deproviding cells. Functionell disturbance of the matrix cause at last alterations of the matrix biorhythms. This seems to be the presuppposition for the development of chronical diseases and tumors.
