Aspekte der Phytotherapie

Abstract: The use of medicinal plants is known through documents from ancient history and rom centuried experiential medicine. The scientific phytotherpy began with Paracelsus and his search for the "Arcanum", the actual principle of action. R. F. Weiß distinguishes mite and forte phytotherapeutics. However, from the phytotherapeutical view point the use of the terms phytotherapy (-therapeutics) and phytopharmacotherapy (-pharmaceutics) has to be recommended. Thus, experimental medicine and preparations for self-medication of the one hand as well as scientifically founded plant drugs for application by the physician on the other hand are clearly defined and justified.
