The multivariate structure of treatment practices in complementary medicine |
Author(s):
Abstract: The current study was designed to determine whether a meaningful order could be identified in the empirical relationships between treatments used by complementary practitioners. Results indicate that there is an underlying order which can be accounted for in terms of two interacting facets, mode of clinical intervention and degree of specialisation. These findings provide some support for the existence of a reliable order between specialist approaches, and a genuinely holistic core of treatments which can be drawn on by practitioners. The contribution of these findings to cross disciplinary dialogue and the development of clinically relevant research is discussed.
